With the help of a friend, I recently determined that my Erdös number is five--which was pretty surprising to me. For those who might not know, the Erdös number is a way of describing the collaborative distance (in regard to scientific papers) between a given author (i.e., me) and Paul Erdös, the famous and prolific Hungarian Jewish mathematician.
